Abstract
The dissertation deals with Johann I Joseph, Prince of Liechtenstein (1760-1836) as a soldier in the Napoleonic Wars and at the same time as the builder of numerous so-called pleasure buildings on his estates. The first part of the dissertation deals with a brief family history, Johann's childhood and the beginning of his military career. This is followed by a chronological list of the buildings and an enumeration of the extensive princely domains and their administration. The dissertation is therefore also devoted to the prince's economic activities, the description of his ideal annual and daily routine and his support of artists and various associations. The last part of the dissertation deals with the Prince's personal life and his family background. Finally, the official princely titles, which changed over time, as well as iconographic sources - portraits of the Prince of Liechtenstein - are analyzed.
