Reading at the Liechtenstein Literature House with Jaroslav Rudiš, Czech Writer and Screenwriter

Description

Reading and discussion on Central Europe with Czech writer and screenwriter Jaroslav Rudiš at the Literaturhaus Liechtenstein in Schaan.

Winterbergs letzte Reise [Winterberg's Last Journey] (novel)

Jan Kraus, born in the Czech Republic, fled to Germany in 1986. As a nurse and hospice worker, he cares for 99-year-old Wenzel Winterberg, a Sudeten German from Liberec, in Berlin. Kraus' stories from his hometown of Vimperk (German: Winterberg) motivate Wenzel to take one last train journey, because he still has one task to complete...

In this novel, Jaroslav Rudiš deals in an original way with timeless themes – love, memory and history – as well as with specific human destinies shaped by events in Central Europe. The inconspicuous becomes the driving force of memory.
