JAN II. KNÍŽE Z LICHTENŠTEJNA. MECENÁŠ A DONÁTOR SLEZSKÉHO ZEMSKÉHO MUZEA

The publication also serves as a catalogue accompanying the exhibition of the same name. It aims to commemorate Prince Johann II in the context of museum history in Opava and to present the objects he donated, which are or were part of the collections of the Museum in Opava either today or during the pre-war period. The publication is bilingual (Czech/German) and consists of several parts. The first part is entitled Die Liechtensteiner in Böhmisch-Schlesien. Die Geschichte der Familie und das Zeugnis der heraldischen Denkmäler and seeks to present selected monuments preserved in the territory of the former principality of Opava and Krnov as material evidence of Liechtenstein rule. The next part, titled Johannes II. von Liechtenstein und das Schlesische Museum, is devoted to the relationship between the Prince of Liechtenstein and the museum in Opava. The final part of the book, Die Schenkungen Johannes II. im Licht der Sammlungen des Schlesischen Museums, is divided into four thematic sections: painting, sculpture, graphic art, and crafts.
